Under the supervision of the Research Coordinator, the  Research Officer is responsible for coordinating gender sensitive research to support the work of the Organization

Key Outputs:

- Statistical and other data
- Project reports, research. Technical papers prepared
- Research Initiatives implemented
- Research studies and surveys conducted and documents

Key responsibility Areas:

Technical/ Professional
-  Plans, organizes and implements ender sensitive research in areas relevant to the work of the Organization
-  Develops statistical indicators and indentifies methodology to facilitate the assessment and analysis of economic performance
-  Conducts research studies, surveys and provide reports related to findings
-  Process and analyze data researched and present findings of research to the Executive Director
-  Investigates and makes recommendations on the feasibility of income generating projects undertaken by various groups
-  Liaises with international information resource and coordinates programmes to facilitate the acquisition and dissemination of information on women’s issues.
-  Liaises with other research institutes for the execution of research activities and sharing of information
-  Identifies, trains and supervises field staff in the execution of research programmes
-  Prepares project reports as required

Other Responsibilities

-  Represents the Organization at meetings/ conferences and other for a as requested
-  Performs other related duties that may be assigned

-  Accuracy in timeliness are observed in the execution o duties
-  Research activities are conducted in accordance with established research and data collection techniques
-  Confidentiality, integrity and professionalism are displayed in the execution of duties and personal conduct
-  Established deadlines, targets and quality standards are consistently met

Minimum required Education and Experience

-  Undergraduate degree in Social Sciences with a major in Sociology/ Gender or other related discipline
-  M.Sc. Degree would be an asset
-  At least three (3) years related experience

Required Competencies:
-  Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
-  Excellent research and analytical skills
-  Excellent presentation, written oral and communicant skills
-  Strong computing, quantities and information gathering skills
-  Sound knowledge of statistical methods, survey design and investigate programmes
-  Proficiency in the use of SPSS or other similar applications
-  Ability to exercise sound judgement and conviction of purpose in unfavourable or unpopular situations
-  Ability to work with groups of person from various social and economic backgrounds.
